2021 Soccer Registration

Hello Soccer Families,

It finally appears that we will be able to get our kids back on the soccer fields. We thank you for your patience while we have waited for word that the Province and Ontario Soccer would allow team play to start again. According to the latest guidelines released on June 24, under Step 2 of the provincial re-opening plan, team sports are planned to move forward in early July. Ontario Soccer has updated their Return to Play guidelines (available here  https://www.ontariosoccer.net/page/show/5787197-ontario-soccer-return-to-play-guide) and we at Chatsworth Soccer have prepared our own Return to Play Guide for our Club, a copy of which is attached with this email.

Our Return to Play Plan is currently being reviewed by the Township of Chatsworth and the Grey Bruce Health Unit. As it is similar to other Clubs who have received approval, we expect it will be approved, with some possible minor revisions. As such, we are currently planning to return to play as of the week of July 12 and we are now ready to open registration.

This season will not be the same as other years, and for that reason we have reduced the registration fees dramatically for this season only. We expect there may be some changes in the process as we go along, there will not be jerseys for teams older than 8, and there will be limited games against other clubs, although we are working with a couple other clubs to setup as many exhibition games depending on the final limits that are approved by Ontario Soccer. Regardless, we are trying to be ready and setup to get our kids back on the fields, however we can. We appreciate your understanding as this is all new to us, and the rules are still changing on us. We will do our best to keep you updated on any changes as we go.

The following revisions are just some of the changes for the coming year. The June 24 update brings good news as there are fewer restrictions than we had expected we would have. Please review the Return to Play plan for more details:

  • Each team will have a Field Safety Marshall. Their role will be to ask the typical covid questions prior to practice, keep a record of those in attendance and to update players and parents on the covid rules throughout the season.  Unfortunately, based on the current rules, we are not allowed to play unless we follow these rules. As our coaches and Field Safety Marshalls are volunteers, we trust that everyone registered will respect the rules so we can play soccer.
  • The June 24 RTP update from Ontario Soccer indicates that masks are NOT required on the bench or on the field. Spectators will be required to physical distance (2m separation).
  • Coaches and Field Safety Marshalls can only help out one team this year.
  • It was decided not to order jerseys for ages over 8 this year due to the season uncertainty, to reduce registration costs and after discussion with other clubs. For Exhibition games, we will either use jerseys we have, or each team will decide on a colour of shirt to wear and players will bring their own. We will still have referees for the exhibition games.
  • For U6 and U8 soccer, through a generous Sponsorship from local Tim Hortons stores, Tim Bits soccer provides jerseys, shorts, socks, and a ball for each player. Depending on the number of players that register, all U6 and U8 players will receive these. Unfortunately, we have no idea what the registration numbers will be so it is first come first served.
  • Registration for all age groups is $40 per player.

Coaches and Field Safety Marshalls are required for all teams and we have very little time to call around and ask for help. If you are willing to help out, please let us know at cbysc1@hotmail.com as soon as possible. Any team that does not have volunteers for both of these positions will be unable to play. Coaching assistance can be provided as needed.
